The East Midlands is one of the best places to invest in property in the UK at the moment, with Nottingham standing out particularly. During the last year, sold prices in Nottingham were 5% up on the previous year and 9% over the last few years.

Nottingham has many characteristics that mark it out as a great city and provide an indication of its growth potential. Nottingham’s economy has a GVA of £12.1 billion, which will expand further through a committed investment of over £1 billion of significant infrastructure developments in the next three years. Over 50 regional and national headquarters are already based within the city including Alliance, Boots, Experian, Capital One, Speedo and E.ON.

Situated in the heart of England, 90% of England’s population is accessible within 2 hours due to excellent motorway and rail connections.

The transport links are already excellent, and over £1 billion of investment is planned over the next 5 years including two more tram lines and a redeveloped railway station and transport hub.

East Midlands Airport is on the doorstep of the city with connections to over 150 worldwide business destinations.

The cobbled streets of the Lace Market buildings and nearby Hockley and Sneinton Market were designated a Creative Quarter in 2012. A city fund has provided £9.5m for workspaces for the new creative and digital industries. A former Boots building is now a BioCity, with labs and offices for more than 200 life-sciences companies.

A 10-minute walk northeast of the station, Hockley and the Lace Market are popular with the young and trendy: think soya-latte-sipping entrepreneurs, free wi-fi and artisan bakers. It has Georgian townhouses, vintage shops, an art-house cinema, a lace-patterned concrete arts centre (Nottingham Contemporary), cool bars and a Rough Trade music shop. Nearby are a burgeoning number of microbreweries.

With two highly respected universities, Nottingham is one of the youngest cities in Britain: 50% of the population are under 30. Nottingham University is a world top 1% university with over 32,000 undergraduates attending, and Nottingham Trent has over 20,000 students, and is in the top 15 in the UK.

This makes this an excellent and vibrant city to develop, live, and invest in.
